Making A Promo Video Black Light Gallery. Work Experience. 12.

The Equipment.
Promo video for Blacklight Gallery. Created on a Cannon 600D and edited with imovie. I wanted to try something a little different but yet subtle to keep with the natural focus of the promo point. As i don't create film in my practice i found it a challenge and actually enjoyable. I like the idea of the inside of the gallery bursting into colour for the second half of the film. I think i will experiemtn with film in the future, now i know thew basics to editing and hopefully will improve! Good effort i think! But i will let you be the judge of that.

St Luke Hospital. Huddersfield. Trip One. Derelict Places.

Cannon 600D Manual. Main Building.
St Luke's Hospital started its shut down process in 2007 and closed to the public in 2011. Mainly providing Neuro Rehabilitation Care, Occupational Therapy, Post Cardiac Disease Rehabilitation and care for the mentally unwell.  Open firstly in 1872 as Crossland more Work House. The Crosland Moor workhouse, designed by John Kirk, was located at the south side of Barton Road (now Blackmoorfoot Road) at the south-west of Huddersfield. Its opened Friday 9th August 1872. Now abandoned and rotting, the hospital is one of the most chilling places i have ever been. I have still yet to explore certain areas of the location, but what i came across was haunting. I genuinely felt terror, and i think this essence has seeped into my images. I truly felt what i was photographing. Im thinking of a derelict project, as it follows on from my work from Antwerp Mansion and would satisfy my craving for exploring timelessness.

Easter Photography Competition @Blacklight Gallery. Work Experience.

As part of my work experience at Blacklight Gallery, I have been asked to co organise an easter photography event, this included such tasks as getting the word out by getting the event in the news paper and putting up posters and also finding a donation of sweets. The Promo for the poster was a joint effort, and the image of the daffodils is one of my very own. I will update the results of the event through my blog, to see how it went and if it was a success or not. My over all experience so far has been great. Im really enjoying the hands on approach using different cameras, and learning more photographic techniques. I have also has such responsibilities as choosing stock and giving my opinion about imagery.  I am anxious to know how the competition goes and pray that it is a success!

I LOVE INSTAGRAM.

Intsagram for iphone.
There is something so special with a photograph taken off your iphone. I feel like its that essential piece of equipment that is right there, in your pocket and then your fingertips. Its always there to capture everyone and everything. It really makes you stop and think about how you are composing an image and you can then really appreciate it's values. Of course the true love of film will never die, there is just a modern obsession with using your mobile phone. Its controversial and unique. Picture Perfect! I feel i do prefer this to Hipstamtic. The images are more raw and simple. And there are no crazy over the top filters that are to hand. Simple and pure. Beautiful.

Blacklight Gallery Bags. Work Experience. 2012

Taking advantage of artistic skills and giving some paper bags some personality. Spur of the moment thing, spray painting the galleries logo and name onto brown paper bags. High of the fumes i have to keep popping outside for fresh air! Enjoyable, chilled day. And pretty pleased with my handy work. Spray paint reminds me of a more messy time when i wasn't obsessed with taking photographs. Also a Video below showing method of how i created these bags.

Macro and Wind. Timeless Black and White/Digital Images. Flowers.

Canon 600D.
Using macro in my work experience has really inspired me to further the technique. I love how you can pick out a particular element with the subject you are photographing. I went to Green Head park in Huddersfield today, because i thought using flowers, as they are so detailed would be a really good starting point. It was very very windy which made it difficult at first, but the movement the wind gave to the subject made a very classic, soft relaxing image. I used black and white to continue studying with tone and shade and i think the element of movement mixed with the black and white created a perfect cocktail. They almost appear as paintings. I definitely enjoy breaking the rules with digital. I enjoy creating something a little different and using it to my advantage. Each one of these images has a motion to it. Like i have captured the wind itself. Playing with natural elements.
